OET (OET-LV)And_bring_it the_priest/officer to the_altar and_wring_off DOM his/its_head and_burn the_altar_on blood_of_its and_drained_out on the_side_of the_altar.

OET (OET-RV)The priest must present it at the altar, and then twist its head off and burn the head on the altar as he drains the blood out onto the outer edge of the altar.

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

וְהִקְטִ֖יר הַמִּזְבֵּ֑חָה

and,burn the,altar,on

See note at [1:9](..01/09.md). Alternate translation: [and he shall cause it to become smoke on the altar and ascend toward God in heaven]

Note 2 topic: writing-pronouns

וְהִקְטִ֖יר הַמִּזְבֵּ֑חָה

and,burn the,altar,on

The object that is to be burned on the altar is not specified. However, because the blood has not yet been removed from the bird and the burning of blood is expressly forbidden in Leviticus, it seems likely that the supplied pronoun it here refers to the head of the bird. If it would be helpful in your language, consider making this explicit. Alternate translation: [and he shall cause the head that he removed to become smoke on the altar]

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive

וְנִמְצָ֣ה דָמ֔וֹ

and,drained_out blood_of,its

If your language does not use the passive form in this way, you could state this in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: [And the priest shall drain its blood]

Note 4 topic: writing-pronouns

וְנִמְצָ֣ה דָמ֔וֹ

and,drained_out blood_of,its

Here, the pronoun its no longer refers to the head of the bird but rather, to the body of the sacrificed bird, which would contain blood which must be drained before burning. Alternate translation: [And the blood of the bird shall be drained]

Note 5 topic: translate-symaction

וְנִמְצָ֣ה דָמ֔וֹ עַ֖ל קִ֥יר הַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ׃

and,drained_out blood_of,its on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in side_of (Some words not found in UHB: and,bring,it the=priest/officer to/towards the,altar and,wring_off DOM his/its=head and,burn the,altar,on and,drained_out blood_of,its on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in side_of the,altar )

Draining its blood on the side of the altar as a symbolic action to show that the life of the sacrificed animal is being given to Yahweh. If this would not be clear to your readers, you could explain the significance of this action in the text or in a footnote. Alternate translation: [The priest must cause the life-blood of the sacrifice to drip down the walls of the altar]

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

1:3-17 burnt offering (Hebrew ‘olah, “what goes up”): The Hebrew word implies the ascent of the animal in flame and smoke. Except for its hide, given in payment to the officiating priest (7:8), this offering was burned completely on the altar (1:9). Its purpose was to satisfy God’s wrath against sin, ceremonially cleansing the worshiper and restoring him or her to fellowship with God (cp. Rom 3:25; 8:3; 2 Cor 5:18-21). The whole burnt offering occurs first in this list of offerings (Lev 1–7), providing a pattern for offerings that follow. It is the most common and most general atoning offering.
