Here, the phrase these things refers to the instructions about widows and their families in the preceding verses (see [5:4–6](../05/04.md)). Paul includes the word also because he earlier told Timothy to “command” other things (see [4:11](../04/11.md)). If it would be helpful in your language, you could make those ideas more explicit.
