OET (OET-LV)You_will_give to/for_them shamelessness_of heart curse_of_your to/for_them.

OET (OET-RV)

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy

(Occurrence 0) You will let their hearts be shameless

(Some words not found in UHB: give to/for=them anguish_of heart curse_of,your to/for=them )

Here the “heart” is a metonym that represents their attitudes and emotions, and being “shameless” means not feeling ashamed of their sins even though they should. Their not being ashamed would give even more reason for God to punish them. Alternate translation: “You will let them feel no shame for their sins”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

(Occurrence 0) May your condemnation be upon them

(Some words not found in UHB: give to/for=them anguish_of heart curse_of,your to/for=them )

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea behind the word condemnation, you can express the same idea with the verbs “condemn” or “curse.” Alternate translation: “Condemn them” or “Curse them”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

3:1-66 In this chapter, the author laments what has happened (3:1-20, 48-54), remembers the faithful love of the Lord (3:21-25), describes how God’s people should respond (3:26-47), and calls upon the Lord in prayer (3:55-66).
