OET (OET-LV) In_the_day (the)_that YHWH he_will_defend for of_Yərūshālam/(Jerusalem) the_inhabitant[s]_of and_it_was the_one_who_stumbles (is)_in_them in_the_day (the)_that like_Dāvid and_the_house_of Dāvid like_ʼElohīm like_the_messenger_of YHWH before_them.
OET (OET-RV) At that time, Yahweh will be the defender of the inhabitants of Yerushalem. Those among them who are weak will become strong like David, while the David’s descendants will be like God, like Yahweh’s messenger going ahead of them.
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
הַנִּכְשָׁ֥ל בָּהֶ֛ם
the_[one,who]_stumbles (is)_in=them
Here Zechariah is speaking of a weak or feeble person as if he were a stumbler. Your language may have a comparable expression that you can use in your translation, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [and the weakest one among them]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / nominaladj
הַנִּכְשָׁ֥ל
(Some words not found in UHB: in_the=day (the)=that shield YHWH behind inhabitants_of Yerushalayim and=it_was the_[one,who]_stumbles (is)_in=them in_the=day (the)=that like,David and,the_house_of Dāvid like=ʼElohīm like,the_angel_of YHWH before,,them )
Zechariah is using the adjective stumbler as a noun to mean a certain kind of person. Your language may use adjectives in the same way. If not, you can translate this adjective with an equivalent phrase. Alternate translation: [the one who stumbles]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / hyperbole
וְהָיָ֞ה & כְּדָוִ֑יד וּבֵ֤ית דָּוִיד֙ כֵּֽאלֹהִ֔ים
and=it_was & like,David and,the_house_of Dāvid like=ʼElohīm
Zechariah says will be like David, and the house of David like God as an extreme statement for emphasis. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use a different way to express the emphasis. Alternate translation: [will be strong like David was, and the house of David will seem as powerful as God]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / simile
וּבֵ֤ית דָּוִיד֙ כֵּֽאלֹהִ֔ים כְּמַלְאַ֥ךְ יְהוָ֖ה
and,the_house_of Dāvid like=ʼElohīm like,the_angel_of YHWH
The point of this comparison is that just as God and the angel of Yahweh are powerful, so the house of David will be powerful as they lead the people. If it would be helpful in your language, you could make this point explicitly. Alternate translation: [and the house of David will be as powerful as God is, as powerful as the angel of Yahweh]
Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
כְּמַלְאַ֥ךְ יְהוָ֖ה לִפְנֵיהֶֽם
like,the_angel_of YHWH before,,them
Here, their face represents their presence, so the phrase means going ahead of the people to lead them. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression or plain language. Alternate translation: [like having the angel of Yahweh fighting in front of them]

OET (OET-RV) At that time, Yahweh will be the defender of the inhabitants of Yerushalem. Those among them who are weak will become strong like David, while the David’s descendants will be like God, like Yahweh’s messenger going ahead of them.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
