OET (OET-RV)

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

(Occurrence 0) each man will invite his neighbor to sit under his vine and under his fig tree

(Some words not found in UHB: in_the=day (the)=that declares_of YHWH armies/messengers invite (a)_man to,neighbor_of,his to/towards below/instead_of vine and=near/to below/instead_of fig_tree )

Both the “vine” and the “fig tree” are symbols of prosperity. This phrase describes actions in which people live prosperously and in peace. Alternate translation: “because they will be at peace, each person will invite his neighbor to come and sit under his vine and his fig tree”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

3:10 That day is shorthand for “the day of the Lord” (see 2:11; Isa 2:11; Joel 2:1; Zeph 1:14), the day of God’s intervention in history when God will judge the wicked, deliver the righteous, and restore creation (see Zech 12:8; 14:3-4).
