Here, Qoheleth is speaking as if the difficult or undesirable parts of life were a bent object that cannot be straightened. Similarly, Qoheleth likens parts of life that he wishes were real but are only imaginary to a lack that cannot be counted. Your language may have a comparable expression that you can use in your translation, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [The difficult parts of life—nobody can fix them, and no one can make life better than what it is]

Qoheleth is using the adjective bent as a noun to mean a certain kind of thing that is crooked or broken. Your language may use adjectives in the same way. If not, you can translate this adjective with an equivalent phrase. Alternate translation: [What is bent]
