CLV Neque enim quæ continebat illos spelunca sine timore custodiebat, quoniam sonitus descendens perturbabat illos, et personæ tristes illis apparentes pavorem illis præstabant.[fn]
(Neque because which continebat those spelunca without timore custodiebat, quoniam sonitus descendens perturbabat illos, and personæ tristes illis apparentes pavorem illis præstabant.)
17.4 Neque because. Semper because tenebras comitatur horror: and quanto minus discernit quis, which circa se are, tanto magis metuit, undique adversa pavitans. So Ægyptii triduo maximas tenebras patiebantur, quas but_not sol, but_not stellæ they_could illuminare, and unicunque yacebant, nimio terrore pavebant; that however dicit. Tristes personas them terruisse, potuit fieri, as dæmones aliqua phantasmata ingererent, who them to augmentum pœnarum exterrerent. Persecutores quoque of_faith and vertitatis, circumdant tenebræ sinners, because ignorant solem justitiæ, but_not prædicatores illustrant them fulgore doctrinæ. Hos also sonitus descendens, id it_is comminatio cœlestis perturbat, and personæ tristes, id it_is dæmones, quandoque torturi terrificant; but_not tamen agunt fructuose pœnitentiam: but desperantes thesaurizant sibi iram in die yudicii.
