Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / doublet

(Occurrence 0) I will turn them into a frightening thing, a disaster … a disgrace and a subject for proverbs, taunts, and curses

(Some words not found in UHB: and,I,will_make_them ל,זועה into, to=all/each/any/every kingdoms_of the=earth/land into,a_reproach and,into,a_byword into,a_taunt and,into,a_curse in=all the,places where I,will_banish_them there )

These phrases mean the same thing and emphasize how thoroughly Yahweh will judge the people of Jerusalem. They will become something that will frighten other people when they see it. (See also: figs-metaphor)

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

24:1-10 This section is a discussion of the meaning of the exile of 597 BC. Some were saying that it had been God’s way of getting the rotten figs out of the barrel (Jerusalem) so that the good figs would survive. Jeremiah said that the exact opposite was the case. The good figs had been taken out of the barrel (into exile) so that the rotten figs would not destroy them.
