OET (OET-LV) And_it_was in_the_day (the)_that a_panic_of it_will_be of_YHWH great (is)_in_them and_they_will_take_hold_of each the_hand_of his/its_neighbour his/its_hand and_it_will_go_up on the_hand_of his/its_neighbour.
OET (OET-RV) On that day, Yahweh will cause them to panic—they’ll grab hold of each other, and then they’ll start attacking each other.
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / gendernotations
וְהֶחֱזִ֗יקוּ אִ֚ישׁ יַ֣ד רֵעֵ֔הוּ
and,they_will_take_hold_of (a)_man hand_of his/its=neighbour
Here the masculine term man has a generic sense that includes both men and women. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could use language in your translation that is clearly inclusive of both men and women. Alternate translation: [and each person will seize the hand of his neighbor]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
וְעָלְתָ֥ה יָד֖וֹ עַל־יַ֥ד רֵעֵֽהוּ
and,it_will_go_up his/its=hand on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in hand_of his/its=neighbour
Zechariah is using his hand will go up against as a common expression of the culture to mean “he will attack.” If this phrase does not have that meaning for your readers, you could use a comparable expression from your language that does have that meaning, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [he will attack his neighbor]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / possession
מְהֽוּמַת־יְהוָ֛ה רַבָּ֖ה
panic_of YHWH enough/great(fs)
Zechariah is using the possessive form a great tumult of Yahweh to describe a tumult that Yahweh himself will cause. If a speaker of your language would not use the possessive form for this, you could express this idea in another way. Alternate translation: [a great tumult that Yahweh sends]
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
Acknowledgements: The Hebrew text, lemmas, and morphology are all thanks to the OSHB and some of the glosses are from Macula Hebrew.
