BrTrTherefore thus saith the Lord God Almighty; In all the streets shall be lamentations; and in all the ways shall it be said, Woe, woe! the husbandman shall be called to mourning and lamentation, and to them that are skilled in complaining.

ULTTherefore, this is what Yahweh says,
⇔ the God of hosts, the Lord,
⇔ “Wailing will be in all the squares,
⇔ and they will say in all the streets,
 ⇔ ‘Woe! Woe!’
⇔ They will call the farmers to mourning
⇔ and the mourners to wail.

USTTherefore, Yahweh will punish you for your sins! This is what Yahweh, the Lord, the commander of angel armies, has solemnly declared:
⇔ “People will be wailing loudly in every street,
⇔ and people will cry in horror in every plaza at the complete desolation.
⇔ Farmers will leave their fields to come and weep,
⇔ along with the other official mourners who will wail for those who have died.

BSB  § Therefore this is what the LORD, the God of Hosts, the Lord, says:
⇔ “There will be wailing in all the public squares
⇔ and cries of ‘Alas! Alas!’ in all the streets.
⇔ The farmer will be summoned to mourn,
⇔ and the mourners to wail.

OEB  ⇔ Therefore the Lord, the God of hosts, says:
⇔ In all the public squares there will be wailing,
⇔ in every street the sound of mourning.
⇔ They will summon the farmers to mourning,
⇔ and professional mourners to wailing.

WEBBETherefore the LORD, the God of Armies, the Lord, says:
⇔ “Wailing will be in all the wide ways.
⇔ They will say in all the streets, ‘Alas! Alas!’
⇔ They will call the farmer to mourning,
⇔ and those who are skilful in lamentation to wailing.

WMBBTherefore the LORD, the God of Hosts, the Lord, says:
⇔ “Wailing will be in all the wide ways.
⇔ They will say in all the streets, ‘Alas! Alas!’
⇔ They will call the farmer to mourning,
⇔ and those who are skilful in lamentation to wailing.

NETBecause of Israel’s sins this is what the Lord, the God who commands armies, the sovereign One, says:
⇔ “In all the squares there will be wailing,
⇔ in all the streets they will mourn the dead.
⇔ They will tell the field workers to lament
⇔ and the professional mourners to wail.

LSVTherefore, thus said YHWH, God of Hosts, the Lord: “Lamentation is in all broad places,
And in all out-places they say, Oh! Oh! And called the farmer to mourning,
And the skillful of wailing to lamentation.

FBVFor this is what the Lord, the Lord God of power says: There will be weeping in the city squares and wailing[fn] in the streets. They will call even the farmers to grieve, as well as the professional mourners.

5:16 Literally, “saying ‘Alas! Alas!’ ”

T4T“Because I, Yahweh, will punish you for your sins, this is what I have solemnly declared:
⇔ People will be wailing loudly in every street,
⇔ and people will be very sorrowful in every plaza.
⇔ Farmers will be summoned to come and weep,
⇔ along with the other official mourners who will wail for those who have died.

LEBTherefore, thus says Yahweh, the God of hosts, my Lord, “In all of the public squares there will be wailing, and in all of the streets they will say, ‘Alas, alas, alas!’ They shall call the farmers to mourning and to wailing, to those who are skilled in lamentation.

BBESo these are the words of the Lord, the God of armies, the Lord: There will be weeping in all the open spaces; and in all the streets they will say, Sorrow! sorrow! and they will get in the farmer to the weeping, and the makers of sad songs to give cries of grief.
