δὲ
and
Here, the word Now introduces a development of the ideas from the previous verse. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use a word or phrase that introduces a development, or you could leave Now untranslated. Alternate translation: “So,”
Note 2 topic: writing-pronouns
ὁ & ἐπιχορηγῶν σπόρον τῷ σπείροντι, καὶ ἄρτον εἰς βρῶσιν
the_‹one› & supplying seed ˱to˲_the_‹one› sowing and bread for food
Here, the word one refers to God. If it would be helpful in your language, you could make this more explicit. Alternate translation: “God, who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food,”
Note 3 topic: grammar-collectivenouns
σπόρον & τὸν σπόρον ὑμῶν
seed & the seed ˱of˲_you_all
In this verse, the word seed is singular in form, but it refers to many seeds. If it would be helpful in your language, you could say this plainly. Alternate translation: “much seed … much seed for you”
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
χορηγήσει καὶ πληθυνεῖ τὸν σπόρον ὑμῶν, καὶ αὐξήσει τὰ γενήματα τῆς δικαιοσύνης ὑμῶν
/will_be/_supplying and /will_be/_multiplying the seed ˱of˲_you_all and /will_be/_growing the (Some words not found in SR-GNT: ὁ δὲ ἐπιχορηγῶν σπόρον τῷ σπείροντι καὶ ἄρτον εἰς βρῶσιν χορηγήσει καὶ πληθυνεῖ τὸν σπόρον ὑμῶν καὶ αὐξήσει τὰ γεννήματα τῆς δικαιοσύνης ὑμῶν)
Here Paul applies what he said about actual seed and bread in the first half of the verse to what he is telling the Corinthians about giving to fellow believers. He means that God will give them the means to give (the seed) and will enable their gifts to really help others (increasing the fruit). If it would be helpful in your language, you could use a simile or express the idea in plain language. Alternate translation: “will supply and multiply what you have like it was seed and will increase what your righteousness accomplishes like it was fruits” or “will supply and multiply your possessions and will increase what your righteousness accomplishes”
Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / possession
τὰ γενήματα τῆς δικαιοσύνης ὑμῶν
the (Some words not found in SR-GNT: ὁ δὲ ἐπιχορηγῶν σπόρον τῷ σπείροντι καὶ ἄρτον εἰς βρῶσιν χορηγήσει καὶ πληθυνεῖ τὸν σπόρον ὑμῶν καὶ αὐξήσει τὰ γεννήματα τῆς δικαιοσύνης ὑμῶν)
Here Paul uses the possessive form to connect fruits with your righteousness. He could be identifying fruits that: (1) come from righteousness. Alternate translation: “the fruits that come from your righteousness” (2) are righteousness. Alternate translation: “the fruits, that is, your righteousness”
Note 6 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns
τῆς δικαιοσύνης ὑμῶν
˱of˲_the righteousness ˱of˲_you_all
If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of righteousness, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: “of the righteous things you do” or “of what you righteously do”
9:10-14 The Corinthians’ generosity would be matched by God’s generosity (9:10-11). It would also meet the needs of Jewish Christians (9:12), honor God (9:13), show believers in Jerusalem that their Gentile brothers and sisters were genuine believers (9:13), and result in the Jewish believers’ intercessory prayer and affection for the Gentile believers (9:14). Paul envisioned a united, worldwide Christian church, composed of believing Jews and Gentiles who are all one in Christ Jesus (Gal 3:28; Eph 2:11-22), which would become a powerful witness to the Lord’s work of reconciliation.
OET (OET-LV) And the one supplying seed to_the one sowing, and bread for food, will_be_supplying and will_be_multiplying the seed of_you_all, and will_be_growing the fruits of_the righteousness of_you_all,
OET (OET-RV) Thus God who supplies the seed to the person sowing and supplies our food, will be supplying and multiplying your seeds as you sow in others and will increase the harvest resulting from your righteousness.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
