OET (OET-LV) And_see/lo/see a_hand it_touched (in)_me and_it_shook_me on knees_of_my and_the_palms_of my_hands_of_my.
In this long final vision, Daniel was told of events leading up to the end of the age.
The man in the vision spoke to Daniel. He helped and encouraged him to stand up and listen to the message from God.
Suddenly, a hand touched me
Suddenly a hand touched me
But a/his hand grasped me.
Then I felt his hand on me.
Suddenly: The Hebrew text introduces this verse part with a word that calls attention to what follows. Older English translations often translate this as “behold.” The BSB translates this word as Suddenly. You should focus attention on what happens next in a way that is natural in your language.
a hand touched me: The Hebrew text does not say whose hand touched Daniel, but the context implies that it was the hand of the man in the linen clothes. If it is necessary to do so in your language, you may make this explicit:
the man put/placed/laid his hand on me
touched: The context of the following verse part suggests that the hand touched Daniel with some force or strength. This was probably not a light touch. Here is another way to translate this:
took hold of (GNT)
and set me trembling on my hands and knees.
and lifted me onto my knees and the palms of my hands.
It/He raised me up onto my hands and knees.
He set me up on my hands and knees.
set me trembling on my hands and knees: Scholars have understood the Hebrew verb that the BSB translates as set me trembling in three ways:
It means that the hand raised/roused Daniel, causing him to rise from the ground. For example:
set me on my hands and knees (NET) (NET, KJV, NRSV, CEV)
It means that the hand caused Daniel to tremble. For example:
setting my knees and my hands trembling (NJB) (NJB, GW)
It means that the hand caused Daniel to tremble as it raised him. For example:
raised me to my hands and knees; I was still trembling (GNT) (BSB, RSV, NASB, ESV, NIV, REB, GNT, NLT, NCV)
It is recommended that you follow interpretation (1). The NRSV is used as the source line in the Display.
my hands and knees: The Hebrew literally says “my knees and the palms of my hands.” Translate this in a way that is natural in your language. Most English versions translate hands before knees, as is natural in English.

hand touched (in),me
Here a person’s hand represents that person, probably the man whom Daniel saw in [Daniel 10:5](../10/05.md). Alternate translation: “someone touched me with his hand”

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
