In this long final vision, Daniel was told of events leading up to the end of the age.

Daniel wrote that he saw a vision of an awe-inspiring man dressed in linen.

10:4a

On the twenty-fourth day of the first month,

On the twenty-fourth day of the first month: This phrase gives a date in accordance with the Hebrew calendar. The first month of the year was a spring month, approximately March or April. Here is another way to translate this:

On the twenty-fourth day of the first month of the year (GNT)

10:4b

as I was standing on the bank of the great river, the Tigris,

as I was standing on the bank of the great river, the Tigris: The Hebrew text describes Daniel as standing beside the Tigris River. In some languages it may be natural to translate this as an independent clause. For example:

I was beside the great river, the Tigris (NET)

I was by the great Tigris River (GW)
