OET (OET-RV) Then on that day in late April, I was standing on the bank of the great river, i.e., the Tigris.
In this long final vision, Daniel was told of events leading up to the end of the age.
Daniel wrote that he saw a vision of an awe-inspiring man dressed in linen.
On the twenty-fourth day of the first month,
¶ On the twenty-fourth day of the first month of the year,
¶ On day 24 of the month that begins the year/spring,
¶ It was on the twenty-fourth day of the first month of the year that I saw the vision.
On the twenty-fourth day of the first month: This phrase gives a date in accordance with the Hebrew calendar. The first month of the year was a spring month, approximately March or April. Here is another way to translate this:
On the twenty-fourth day of the first month of the year (GNT)
as I was standing on the bank of the great river, the Tigris,
I was standing beside the great Tigris River.
I went and stood by the great river, the river called the Tigris.
At that time I was standing beside the mighty River Tigris.
as I was standing on the bank of the great river, the Tigris: The Hebrew text describes Daniel as standing beside the Tigris River. In some languages it may be natural to translate this as an independent clause. For example:
I was beside the great river, the Tigris (NET)
I was by the great Tigris River (GW)
I was standing on the bank of the mighty Tigris River (GNT)

וּבְי֛וֹם עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וְאַרְבָּעָ֖ה לַחֹ֣דֶשׁ הָרִאשׁ֑וֹן
and,on,day_of twenty and,four of,month (the),first
This is the first month of the Hebrew calendar. The twenty-fourth day is near the middle of April on Western calendars.
OET (OET-LV) and_on_day_of twenty and_four of_month (the)_first and_I I_was on the_side_of the_river (the)_great it is_the_Tigris.
OET (OET-RV) Then on that day in late April, I was standing on the bank of the great river, i.e., the Tigris.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
