OET (OET-RV) Previously, in Babylonian King Belshatstsar’s first year, Daniel had seen a dream and visions in his mind while lying on his bed. Then he wrote the dream down and gave a summary of it.
Note 1 topic: writing-symlanguage
Chapters 7 and 8 are not in chronological order. They happened while Belshazzar was still the king, before the rule of Darius and Cyrus that was discussed in chapter 6. In Daniel’s vision, he saw animals that were symbols of other things. Later in the vision someone explains the meaning of those symbols.

of,Belshazzar
Belshazzar was the name of Nebuchadnezzar’s son, who became king after him. See how you wrote this name in Daniel 5:1.

חֵ֣לֶם & וְחֶזְוֵ֥י
dream & and=visions_of
The words dream and visions both refer to the same dream that is described in this chapter. Alternate translation: “visions while he was dreaming in”
7:1–12:13 The second half of the book features visions given to Daniel. These visions showed Daniel and his people, both those in exile and those who had returned to Judea, that the future is securely in God’s hands. All empires will ultimately fall before the Kingdom of Heaven. Daniel’s people will be rescued from all their troubles (12:1-3), and God will resurrect and judge all humankind (see 12:13). Daniel interpreted these visions with help from divine messengers (7:10; 8:15; 9:22; 10:14; 12:7).
7:1-28 This chapter contains a terrifying vision (7:2-14) and its interpretation (7:17-27). The sequence of kingdoms recalls Nebuchadnezzar’s dream some forty-five years earlier (2:1-45).

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
