וְרָאשֵׁ֣י הַ֠לְוִיִּם & לְהַלֵּ֣ל לְהוֹד֔וֹת

and,heads the,Levites & to,praise to,give_thanks

Here the book leaves out some of the words that a sentence would ordinarily need in order to be complete. This sentence seems to mean “The Levite leaders who directed the choir that sang songs of praise and thanksgiving were … ” You could say something like that as an alternate translation if it would be helpful to your readers.

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

וְרָאשֵׁ֣י הַ֠לְוִיִּם

and,heads the,Levites

Head here is a figurative way of saying “leader.” Alternate translation: “the leaders of the Levites” or “the Levite leaders”

Note 3 topic: translate-names

חֲשַׁבְיָ֨ה שֵֽׁרֵבְיָ֜ה

Hashabiah Sherebiah

These are the names of two men.

and,brothers,their at,opposite,them & section responding,responding_to section

As in 12:9, this could mean one of two things. (1) It could mean that Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua directed one choir, and other Levite leaders directed a second choir that stood opposite to this first one and sang responses to what it sang. (2) It could mean that other Levite leaders took turns with these three men in assuming the responsibilities of directing a single Levite choir. Alternate translation: “their fellow Levite leaders directed a second choir that sang responses” or “their fellow Levite leaders took turns with them directing the choir”

Note 6 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

וַאֲחֵיהֶ֣ם

and,brothers,their

Brothers here means their fellow Levite leaders.
