Note: This view shows ‘verses’ which are not natural language units and hence sometimes only part of a sentence will be visible. Normally the OET discourages the reading of individual ‘verses’, but this view is only designed for doing comparisons of different translations. Click on any Bible version abbreviation down the left-hand side to see the verse in more of its context. 10:1-27 The eighty-four names included the governor: Nehemiah (10:1), and a group of priests (10:2-8; cp. 12:1-7), Levites (10:9-13; cp. 9:4-5; 12:8-9), and leaders (10:14-27; cp. 3:4-31).

(Some words not found in UHB: and=on/over=all this(f) we making binding_agreement and,writing and,on the,sealed leaders,our Levites,our priests,our )

נְחֶמְיָ֧ה הַתִּרְשָׁ֛תָא בֶּן־חֲכַלְיָ֖ה
(Some words not found in UHB: and=on/over=all this(f) we making binding_agreement and,writing and,on the,sealed leaders,our Levites,our priests,our )
As in 7:65 and 7:70, this was the formal Persian title of the governor. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the title and then explain it. Alternate translation: “Nehemiah son of Hakiliah, the Tirshatha (that is, the governor)”
Note 2 topic: translate-names
נְחֶמְיָ֧ה & בֶּן־חֲכַלְיָ֖ה וְצִדְקִיָּֽה
(Some words not found in UHB: and=on/over=all this(f) we making binding_agreement and,writing and,on the,sealed leaders,our Levites,our priests,our )
As in 1:1, Nehemiah is the name of a man, and Hakaliah is the name of his father. Zedekiah is also the name of a man.
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit
וְצִדְקִיָּֽה
(Some words not found in UHB: and=on/over=all this(f) we making binding_agreement and,writing and,on the,sealed leaders,our Levites,our priests,our )
This could mean the same man who is called “Zadok the scribe” in 13:13. That man seems to have been the official secretary for Nehemiah. Other documents from this time suggest that the name of the scribe would have come second in a list like this, right after the government official in charge. Alternate translation: “Zedekiah the scribe” or “Zedekiah the secretary.”
