BrTrAnd I will take their blood out of their mouth, and their abominations from between their teeth; and these also shall be left to our God, and they shall be as a captain of a thousand in Juda, and Accaron as a Jebusite.

ULTFor I will remove their blood from their mouths and their abominations from between their teeth. Then they will become a remnant for our God like a clan in Judah, and Ekron will become like the Jebusites.

USTI will no longer allow them to eat meat that still has blood in it, and I will forbid them to eat food that they offered to idols. At that time, the people in the region of Philistia who survive will worship me; they will become like a clan in Judah. The people of the city of Ekron will become part of my people, as the people of the city of Jebus did when the Israelites conquered them.

TSNTyndale Study Notes:

9:7 bloody meat: The Philistines ate meat that had not been drained of blood and was therefore unclean (Gen 9:4; Lev 3:17; Acts 15:20).
• Detestable sacrifices suggests eating unclean foods (see Lev 11:2-23).
• the surviving Philistines will worship our God: This anticipates Philip’s ministry in the cities of the Philistine coastal plain (Acts 8:40).
• The Jebusites were a Canaanite group (see Gen 10:16; 1 Chr 1:14) living in and around Jerusalem. The city of Jebus (Jerusalem) was sacked and burned during the days of the judges (Judg 1:8); it was later recaptured by David, who made it the capital of his kingdom (2 Sam 5:6-10). The Jebusites were absorbed by the Israelites through intermarriage during David’s reign (see 2 Sam 5:13).

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy

(Occurrence 0) I will remove their blood from their mouths and their abominations from between their teeth

(Some words not found in UHB: and,remove blood,its from,mouth,their and,abominations,its from,between teeth,their and,be_a_remnant also/yet he/it for,God,our and=it_was like,clan in/on/at/with,Judah and,Ekron like,Jebusites )

Here “blood” is a metonym for meat with blood in it, and “abominations” is a metonym for meat offered to idols. Alternate translation: “I will no longer allow them to eat meat that still has blood in it, and I will forbid them to eat food that they offered to idols”
