τοῖς ἐν Κολοσσαῖς ἁγίοις, καὶ πιστοῖς ἀδελφοῖς ἐν Χριστῷ
˱to˲_the in Colosse holy_‹ones› and faithful brothers in Christ
In this culture, after giving their own names, letter writers would name those to whom they sent the letter, referring to them in the third person. If that is confusing in your language, you could use the second person here. Or if your language has a particular way of introducing the recipient of a letter, and if it would be helpful to your readers, you could use it here. Alternate translation: “to you who live in the city of Colossae and who are God’s people and faithful fellow believers who are united to the Messiah”

τοῖς & ἁγίοις, καὶ πιστοῖς ἀδελφοῖς ἐν Χριστῷ
˱to˲_the & holy_‹ones› and faithful brothers in Christ
The words saints, faithful brothers, and in Christ all describe people who are followers of Jesus. Paul is using all of these to describe one group of people. For example, he is not implying that saints and faithful brothers in Christ are two different groups. If it would be helpful in your language, you could join these words together in a different way. Alternate translation: “to God’s faithful people, joined together as a family in Christ”

χάρις ὑμῖν καὶ εἰρήνη ἀπὸ Θεοῦ Πατρὸς ἡμῶν καὶ Κυρίου Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ
grace ˱to˲_you_all and peace from God /the/_Father ˱of˲_us and /the/_Lord Jesus Christ
After stating his name and the name of the person to whom he is writing, Paul adds a blessing for the Colossians. Use a form that people would recognize as a blessing in your language. Alternate translation: “May you experience kindness and peace within you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus the Messiah” or “I pray that grace and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus the Messiah will always be with you”
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns
χάρις ὑμῖν καὶ εἰρήνη ἀπὸ Θεοῦ Πατρὸς ἡμῶν καὶ Κυρίου Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ
grace ˱to˲_you_all and peace from God /the/_Father ˱of˲_us and /the/_Lord Jesus Christ
The words Grace and peace are abstract nouns. Your language may have a particular way of expressing these concepts, such as with verbs or description words. If so, you could use them in your translation. Alternate translation: “We pray that God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ will treat you kindly and give you peaceful relationships”
Note 5 topic: guidelines-sonofgodprinciples
Θεοῦ Πατρὸς ἡμῶν
God /the/_Father ˱of˲_us
Here and throughout the chapter, Father is an important title for God. Alternate translation: “God, who is our Father,”
1:2 Colosse was situated in the Lycus River valley in western Asia Minor, about 120 miles (193 kilometers) east of Ephesus and 10 miles (16 kilometers) southeast of Laodicea. Its location on an important Roman road meant that it was influenced by the social and religious currents of the time.
• brothers and sisters: Greek adelphoi, a generic term commonly used to refer to members of the same family, both male and female.
OET (OET-LV) to_the holy ones, in Kolossai and faithful brothers in chosen_one/messiah:
grace to_you_all and peace from god the_father of_us and the_master Yaʸsous chosen_one/messiah.
OET (OET-RV) To the people there in Colossae who’re godly and faithful brothers and sisters in Messiah.
¶ Grace and peace to you all from God our father and the master Yeshua Messiah.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
