In this final section of the book, Paul wrote briefly about several topics. He wrote about collecting money for poor Christians in Jerusalem, and he wrote about the travel plans of him and his companions. Then he concluded his letter with some short exhortations, warnings, blessings, and greetings.
Here are some other possible section headings:
The conclusion of the letter
Final topics
Now about the collection for the saints,
¶ Regarding the money you(plur) should collect for God’s holy people:
¶ There is another thing: I want you to collect money to help the believers in Jerusalem.
Now about: The Greek phrase that the BSB translates as Now about indicates a transition to a different topic. This same introduction was used in 7:1 and 7:25. See how you translated it there.
Here are some other ways to translate this phrase:
As for the subject of
Now I want to write about
I have another command for you about
You should start this verse in a way that is natural for introducing a new topic in your language.
the collection for the saints: This is the new topic that Paul wanted to discuss. Many of the believers in Jerusalem were poor and Paul wanted the Corinthian Christians to collect money to help them.
Here are some other ways to translate this phrase:
the money to be raised to help God’s people (GNT)
gathering money to help God’s people
I want you to collect money to help God’s people
collection: The word collection refers to gathering money together from many people.
Here are some other ways to translate this word:
money
the money to be collected (GW)
the saints: The Greek word that the BSB translates as the saints is literally “the holy ones.” See 1:2 where the same word occurs. Some English versions translate this as:
God’s people
Paul wanted them to collect money for poor believers in Jerusalem. This is clear from 16:3c and from Romans 15:25–31. It may be helpful to put that information in this verse. For example:
the saints in Jerusalem who are poor
you are to do as I directed the churches of Galatia:
Follow(plur) the instructions I gave to the churches in Galatia.
I told the people in the churches of Galatia province how to do this. You should do the same.
you are to do as I directed the churches of Galatia: Paul had already told the Christians in Galatia how to collect this money. He wanted the Christians in Corinth to do the same thing.
Here are some other ways to translate this clause:
You must do what I told the churches in Galatia to do. (GNT)
I told the churches in Galatia how to do this. You should do the same as they did.
the churches of Galatia: The phrase the churches of Galatia means “churches in Galatia Province.” Galatia was a province of Rome in what is now the country of Turkey. In some languages it may not be natural to speak of giving directions to churches. In those languages it may be better to say:
the believers in the churches of Galatia

περὶ δὲ
(Some words not found in SR-GNT: περί Δέ τῆς λογίας τῆς εἰς τούς ἁγίους ὥσπερ διέταξα ταῖς ἐκκλησίαις τῆς Γαλατίας οὕτως καί ὑμεῖς ποιήσατε)
Just as in [7:1](../07/01.md), [25](../07/25.md), Now concerning introduces a new topic that Paul wishes to address. Likely, the topics that he introduces in this way are what the Corinthians wrote to him about. Translate Now concerning here as you did in [7:1](../07/01.md), [25](../07/25.md). Alternate translation: [Next, about]
Note 2 topic: translate-unknown
τῆς λογείας
the which_‹is› ¬the (Some words not found in SR-GNT: περί Δέ τῆς λογίας τῆς εἰς τούς ἁγίους ὥσπερ διέταξα ταῖς ἐκκλησίαις τῆς Γαλατίας οὕτως καί ὑμεῖς ποιήσατε)
Here, the collection refers to money that is “collected” from people for a specific purpose. Here Paul clarifies that it is “collected” for the saints. If it would be helpful in your language, you could express collection with a word or phrase that refers to money that is “collected” for a purpose. Alternate translation: [the offering] or [the money]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit
εἰς τοὺς ἁγίους
for (Some words not found in SR-GNT: περί Δέ τῆς λογίας τῆς εἰς τούς ἁγίους ὥσπερ διέταξα ταῖς ἐκκλησίαις τῆς Γαλατίας οὕτως καί ὑμεῖς ποιήσατε)
Here Paul does not clarify which saints he is speaking about. However, in [16:3](../16/03.md), he states that this collection will be taken to “Jerusalem.” Therefore, the saints are Jewish people who believe in Jesus. The Corinthians would have known to which saints Paul is referring, but If it would be helpful in your language, you could express the idea behind who the saints are explicitly here instead of waiting until [16:3](../16/03.md). Alternate translation: [for the Jewish saints] or [for the saints in Jerusalem]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / infostructure
ὥσπερ διέταξα ταῖς ἐκκλησίαις τῆς Γαλατίας, οὕτως καὶ ὑμεῖς ποιήσατε
as ˱I˲_directed ˱to˲_the assemblies ¬the ˱of˲_Galatia thus (Some words not found in SR-GNT: περί Δέ τῆς λογίας τῆς εἰς τούς ἁγίους ὥσπερ διέταξα ταῖς ἐκκλησίαις τῆς Γαλατίας οὕτως καί ὑμεῖς ποιήσατε)
If your language would normally state the command (you must do) before the comparison (even as), you could reverse the order of these clauses. Alternate translation: [also you must do even as I directed the churches of Galatia]
