TSNTyndale Study Notes:

3:1-66 In this chapter, the author laments what has happened (3:1-20, 48-54), remembers the faithful love of the Lord (3:21-25), describes how God’s people should respond (3:26-47), and calls upon the Lord in prayer (3:55-66).

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

(Occurrence 0) He built a wall around me and I cannot escape. He made my chains heavy

(Some words not found in UHB: walled_~_in around,me and=not escape made_~_heavy chains,me )

This represents the continuing suffering. Like a person who cannot escape from prison, the author cannot make his suffering stop. Alternate translation: “My suffering continues. It is as though he has built a wall around me and put heavy chains on me, and I cannot escape”
