This is still a very early look into the unfinished text of the Open English Translation of the Bible. Please double-check the text in advance before using in public.
4 Then he made a square, bronze altar, nine metres on each side and 4.5m high,[ref] 2 and he made the large, round metal water tank (called ‘The Sea’) which was 4.5m diameter and over two metres high. 3 Below the outer rim were two rows of small, ornamental bulls spaced 45cm apart that were also part of the same casting. 4 Supporting ‘The Sea’ were twelve large cast bulls—facing outwards with three facing each of the four compass points. 5 The sides of the tank were eight centimeters thick. The tank’s brim was fashioned like the brim of a cup, resembling a lily blossom. The tank held sixty-six thousand litres of water. 6 Then he made ten washbasins, placing five on each side for the priests to rinse the burnt offerings in. The priests used ‘The Sea’ to wash in.[ref]
7 He made the ten gold lampstands as per their design, and placed them in the temple with five on each side.[ref] 8 He made ten tables and also placed them in the temple with five on each side, plus he made one hundred gold basins.[ref]
9 He made the courtyard for the priests, as well as the large courtyard with its doors overlaid with bronze, 10 and he placed ‘The Sea’ in the southeast corner.
11 Meanwhile, Huram made the tubs and shovels (for the ashes from the altar) and other small bowls.
So Huram finished the work for God’s temple that King Shelomoh had assigned to him: 12 the two pillars, and the bowl-shaped the capitals on top of each pillar, and the two sets of latticework to cover those two bowls of the capitals, 13 and the four hundred pomegranates for the latticework—two rows of pomegranates to cover each of the two bowls of the capitals that decorated the tops of the pillars. 14 He also made the washbasins and their stands, 15 ‘The Sea’ and the twelve bulls that hold it up, 16 and the tubs and shovels, the forks, and other utensils.
Those were all items made of polished bronze that Huram-Abi made for King Shelomoh for Yahweh’s temple.
17 The king had them cast in the clay between Sukkot and Tseredah down by the Yordan River. 18 Shelomoh had so many items made that they didn’t even try to weigh all the bronze.
19 Shelomoh had all the items for God’s temple made, including the gold altar and the tables for displaying the sacred bread, 20 and the pure gold lampstands and their lamps for the inner sanctuary according to their designs, 21 the pure gold flower ornaments, lamps, tongs, 22 the pure gold lamp trimmers, the basins and spoons, and fire pans. Also the temple entrance, its inner doors into the very sacred room, and the outer temple doors were all gold.
5 After all the work which Solomon did for Yahweh’s temple was completed, Solomon brought in the sacred things of his father David: the gold and silver, and all the items, he placed in the temple treasuries.[ref]
23 Huram also cast a very large round basin nicknamed ‘The sea’ that was five metres across (so a circumference of fourteen metres) and over two metres high. 24 Part of the same casting was two rows of decorative buds that went around it under the lip of the basin. There were about eighteen buds for each metre of circumference. 25 Twelve bronze cattle had also been cast and the large basin was sitting on their backs. The cattle were facing outwards with three facing towards each of the four compass points. 26 The basin was about 8cm thick and it had a lip around the outside like a lily blossom. It could contain around forty-four thousand litres of water.
27 Then Huram cast ten bronze carts for individual water basins. Each one was nearly two metres long and two metres wide and just over a metre tall, 28 and they had frames on the sides with panels between them. 29 There were bronze lions, oxen, and winged creatures in relief on the panels, and above and below those, wreaths were inset into the bronze. 30 Each cart had two bronze axles with four bronze wheels attached to them. At each of the top four corners, there were bronze supports to hold a wash basin, and these were also cast with decorative wreaths. 31 Inside those supports there was a round frame that protruded half a metre upwards and was inset by a quarter of a metre. It also had engravings on it inside square frames. 32 The axles were part of the main casting, and the four 70cm bronze wheels were below the panels. 33 The design of the wheels was similar to chariot wheels, but with their axles, rims, spokes, and hubs all cast from bronze. 34 Each cart had four handles as part of the casting—one projecting from each corner. 35 There was a 25cm bronze band around the top of each cart as well as supports and frames—all part of the main casting. 36 He engraved winged creatures, lions, and palm trees on the flat areas of the carts wherever there was space, and engraved wreaths around them. 37 So that’s how he made the ten carts—all the same shape and size using the same mold.
38 Huram also cast ten bronze wash basins for the ten carts—each one was almost two metres across and could hold 900 litres of water.[ref] 39 He put five basins on carts on each side of the temple (north and south of the east-facing temple), and he put the huge basin on its bronze cattle near the south-east corner. 40 Huram also made the basins and the ash shovels and the bowls.
So Huram finished everything that King Shelomoh had requested him to make for Yahweh’s residence: 41 two massive pillars with large decorated caps and then networks of chain over the caps, 42 the four hundred pomegranates with each pillar having two strings of one hundred of them placed over them, 43 the ten carts and the ten basins on them, 44 the huge water tank and the twelve cattle supporting it, 45 and the pots and shovels and bowls and all the other containers.
All the above was made from polished bronze by Huram for King Shelomoh for Yahweh’s residence. 46 The king had them cast in the clay in the Yordan valley between Sukkot and Tsaretan. 47 None of the above was weighed, because bronze was so plentiful that it didn’t matter.
48 Shelomoh also had the gold items made for Yahweh’s residence, including the gold incense altar and the gold table for the sacred bread,[ref] 49 the ten pure gold lampstands that were placed five on each side of the entrance to the inner room, along with the gold flowers, lamps, and tongs,[ref] 50 the pure gold cups, trimmers, bowls, dishes, and firepans, and also the gold door sockets for the inner holiest room and the main room of the temple.
51 Finally all the work that King Shelomoh did for Yahweh’s residence was completed, and he had all the holy things from his father David, including the silver and the gold and the containers, taken into the storerooms of the temple.[ref]
Exo 27:1-2:
27 Make an altar from acacia wood that’s 2.5m square and 1.5m high 2 and as part of that same piece of wood, include a carved projection like a horn on each of the top corners of the altar. Overlay the altar with bronze.
Exo 30:17-21:
30:17 The washbasin
17 The Yahweh told Mosheh: 18 Make a bronze washbasin with a bronze base. Place it between the sacred tent and the altar, and fill it with water[ref] 19 and Aharon and his sons must wash their hands and feet in it. 20 Before they go into the sacred tent, they must wash with water so that won’t die, and also when they’re going to the altar to burn offerings to me—21 they must wash their hands and feet so they won’t die. This will be a rule for them and for all their descendants throughout the generations.
Exo 25:31-40:
25:31 The lampstand
31 You must make a lampstand from pure gold. The base and shaft are to be hammered out of one piece of gold as well as its cups and decorative buds and flowers. 32 There must be six branches extending from the shaft—three on each side. 33 Three cups shaped like almond flowers must be on each branch along with a bud and petals. 34 The centre shaft must have four cups like almond flowers along with a bud and petals. 35 For each of the three pairs of branches (one branch out each side in each pair), make a bud on the centre shaft so each pair of branches appear to be growing out of it. 36 These buds and their branches must all be hammered out from that single piece of pure gold. 37 Make seven lamps and set them up on it to give light out from the front of it, 38 and make all the utensils and dishes for the lamps from pure gold. 39 This can all be made from 35kg of pure gold 40 and be sure to make it all like the pattern that you’re being shown on the mountain.[ref]
Exo 25:23-30:
23 You must make a table from acacia wood: one metre long, 500cm wide, and 750cm high. 24 Overlay it with pure gold and have a gold moulding fitted all around it. 25 Make an 8cm wide rim around it and fit a gold moulding onto the rim. 26 Make four gold rings and attach them near the legs on the four corners of the table 27 near the rim. The rings are so poles can be inserted in order to carry the table. 28 Make two poles out of acacia wood and overlaid them with gold for carrying the table. 29 In addition, make the necessary plates and pans, and the pitchers and bowls to be used for pouring out the wine offerings—all from pure gold. 30 You must keep sacred bread on the table continually in front of me.[ref]
2Sam 8:11:
11 King David dedicated them to Yahweh, along with the silver and gold that he’d taken from all the nations that they’d conquered:
1Ch 18:11:
11 King David consecrated that to Yahweh, along with the gold and silver that he’d brought back from other nations: from Edom, from Moav, from the Ammonites, from the Philistines, and from the Amalekites.
Exo 30:1-3:
30:1 The incense altar
30 You must make an altar out of acacia word for burning incense on. 2 It should be square—half a metre on each side—and a metre high. Make projections that look like horns on top out of that same block of wood. 3 It must be overlaid with pure gold—its top and all around its sides and its projections—plus you shall make a gold moulding all around it.
