Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit
εὐδοκῶ
˱I˲_/am/_taking_pleasure
Here Paul means that he is content with these bad experiences and is even happy that he experiences them, because Christ works through him when these bad things happen. He does not mean that he enjoys the bad experiences themselves. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use a phrase that makes this idea more explicit. Alternate translation: [I rejoice when I live] or [I am content to suffer]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns
ἐν ἀσθενείαις, ἐν ὕβρεσιν, ἐν ἀνάγκαις, ἐν διωγμοῖς, καὶ στενοχωρίαις
in weaknesses in insults in hardships in persecutions and distresses
If your language does not use abstract nouns for the ideas in this clause, you could express the same ideas in another way. Alternate translation: [in being weak, in being insulted, in being coerced, in being persecuted and distressed]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / infostructure
ἐν ἀσθενείαις, ἐν ὕβρεσιν, ἐν ἀνάγκαις, ἐν διωγμοῖς, καὶ στενοχωρίαις, ὑπὲρ Χριστοῦ
in weaknesses in insults in hardships in persecutions and distresses for Christ
Here, the phrase for the sake of Christ could go with: (1) the entire list of bad experiences. Alternate translation: [in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions and distresses whenever I experience them for the sake of Christ] (2) the verb take delight. Alternate translation: [for the sake of Christ in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions and distresses]
Note 4 topic: grammar-connect-logic-result
γὰρ
for
Here, the word For introduces a reason why Paul takes delight in these bad experiences. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use a different word or phrase that introduces a reason or basis for a claim. Alternate translation: [that is because] or [I do that since]
12:7b-10 We do not know what the thorn in Paul’s flesh was (cp. Num 33:55; Ezek 28:24; Hos 2:6); we only know that its purpose was to keep him from becoming proud, to prick the bubble of pride.
• It was a messenger from Satan—that is, something or someone evil—so Paul prayed to the Lord to take it away. The Lord answered each petition the same way: “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” Paul’s human weakness was an opportunity for the power of Christ to work through him by God’s grace. Paul accepted his suffering because Christ’s strength showed itself through his weakness.
OET (OET-LV) Therefore I_am_taking_pleasure in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, and distresses, for chosen_one/messiah, because/for whenever I_may_be_faltering, then powerful I_am.
OET (OET-RV) So then I take pleasure in weaknesses, in insults and hardships, in persecutions and distresses for Messiah because whenever I might be faltering, that’s when I’m powerful.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
