נָשִׂ֨יא אֶחָ֜ד לַיּ֗וֹם נָשִׂ֤יא אֶחָד֙ לַיּ֔וֹם
leader one(ms) for,day leader one(ms) for,day
Yahweh is using One leader for the day, one leader for the day as a common expression of his culture to mean “one leader on each separate day in sequence.” If this phrase does not have that meaning in your language, you could use a comparable expression from your language that does have that meaning, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [One leader on each day for 12 days]
Note 2 topic: writing-poetry
יַקְרִ֨יבוּ֙ אֶת־קָרְבָּנָ֔ם
present DOM offering_of,their
Yahweh is using a construction in which a verb (present) and its object (offering) come from the same root. You may be able to use the same construction in your language to express the meaning here. Alternatively, your language may have another way of saying this. Alternate translation: [they shall give their offering]
Note 3 topic: grammar-collectivenouns
אֶת־קָרְבָּנָ֔ם
DOM offering_of,their
In this verse, the word offering is singular in form, but it refers to the offerings of all the leaders of Israel as a group. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use the plural form of “offering.” Alternate translation: [their offerings]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns
לַחֲנֻכַּ֖ת הַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ
for,the_dedication_of of,the_altar
If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of dedication, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: [for when the altar is dedicated]
OET (OET-LV) And_ YHWH _he/it_said to Mosheh a_leader one for_day a_leader one for_day they_will_bring_near DOM offering_of_their for_the_dedication_of the_altar.
OET (OET-RV) and Yahweh told Mosheh, “Each day for the next twelve days, one leader must present his offering for the altar dedication.”
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
Acknowledgements: The Hebrew text, lemmas, and morphology are all thanks to the OSHB and some of the glosses are from Macula Hebrew.
