If it would be more natural in your language, you could reverse the order of these phrases, since the second phrase gives the reason for the result that the first phrase describes. Alternate translation: [Now Moses had taken a woman, a Cushitess. And Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses on account of this woman, this Cushitess]

הָ⁠אִשָּׁ֥ה הַ⁠כֻּשִׁ֖ית

the=woman (the),Cushite

Some scholars argue that this woman was Zipporah, whom Moses married in [Exodus 2:21](../exo/02/21.md). Other scholars argue that this is another woman to whom Moses was also married. It is recommended that you do not identify this woman beyond identifying her as a Cushitess.

Here, the word Cushitess refers to a woman from the area south of Egypt, sometimes known as Nubia. This is modern day southern Egypt and northern Sudan. Alternate translation: [the one from Cush … one from Cush]
