OET (OET-LV) And_anger great I am_angry towards the_nations (the)_at_ease that I I_was_angry a_little and_they they_have_helped for_evil.
OET (OET-RV) I’m very angry with the countries that are at ease—I was only a little angry with them, but they made the disaster worse.
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns
לְרָעָֽה
for,evil
If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of the evil, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: [to do what was harmful]
Note 2 topic: grammar-connect-logic-contrast
אֲשֶׁ֤ר אֲנִי֙ קָצַ֣פְתִּי מְּעָ֔ט וְהֵ֖מָּה עָזְר֥וּ לְרָעָֽה
which/who I angry a_little and,they furthered for,evil
Yahweh uses the word but here to indicate a contrast between the limited extent of his anger and the excessive harm the nations inflicted. In your translation, indicate this contrast in a way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: [for I was angry only a little, yet they made the harm far worse]
Note 3 topic: writing-pronouns
אֲנִ֣י קֹצֵ֔ף & אֲנִי֙ קָצַ֣פְתִּי
I being_angry & I angry
The pronoun I is repeated for emphasis in both clauses. You could translate Yahweh’s emphasis with a phrase that conveys strong personal involvement in your language. Alternate translation: [I myself am angry…I myself was angry]
Note 4 topic: writing-poetry
וְקֶ֤צֶף גָּדוֹל֙ אֲנִ֣י קֹצֵ֔ף
and,anger big/great I being_angry
Yahweh is using a construction in which a verb and its object come from the same root. You may be able to use the same construction in your language to express the meaning here. Alternatively, your language may have another way of saying this. Alternate translation: [And I am very, very angry]
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
Acknowledgements: The Hebrew text, lemmas, and morphology are all thanks to the OSHB and some of the glosses are from Macula Hebrew.
