Note: This view shows ‘verses’ which are not natural language units and hence sometimes only part of a sentence will be visible—click on any Bible version abbreviation down the left-hand side to see the verse in more of its context. Normally the OET discourages the reading of individual ‘verses’, but this view is only designed as a tool for Bible-translators and others doing comparisons of different translations—the older translations are further down the page (so you can read up from the bottom to trace the English translation history). The OET segments on this page are still early looks into the drafted texts of the Open English Translation of the Bible—please double-check these texts in advance before using in public.

Note 1 topic: translate-unknown
נְזִירֶ֨יהָ֙
of_high_rank_of,its_ones
This could mean: (1) Nazirites refers to people who had taken a special vow of dedication to God, as described in [Numbers 6:1–21](../../num/06/01.md). Their pure appearance would reflect their consecrated life. Alternate translation: [Her consecrated ones] or (2) the word refers more generally to nobles, leaders, or people who were set apart by their high position. The UST follows this reading. Alternate translation: [Her nobles]

זַכּ֤וּ & מִשֶּׁ֔לֶג צַח֖וּ מֵחָלָ֑ב
purer & (Some words not found in UHB: purer of_high_rank_of,its_ones more,than_snow whiter more,than_milk ruddy bone/body more,than_corals sapphire polishing_of,their )
The point of this comparison is that just as snow and milk are bright and clean, so the Nazirites had a pure appearance. If it would be helpful in your language, you could make this point explicitly. Alternate translation: [were as clean looking as snow; their appearance was as bright as milk]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / simile
אָ֤דְמוּ עֶ֨צֶם֙ מִפְּנִינִ֔ים סַפִּ֖יר גִּזְרָתָֽם
ruddy bone/body (Some words not found in UHB: purer of_high_rank_of,its_ones more,than_snow whiter more,than_milk ruddy bone/body more,than_corals sapphire polishing_of,their )
The point of this comparison is that just as corals have a rich red color and sapphire is very precious, so the Nazirites’ bodies had a healthy, ruddy complexion and fine form. If it would be helpful in your language, you could make this point explicitly. Alternate translation: [Their complexion was as healthy-looking as coral; their form was as beautiful as sapphire]
