6:12 Note: KJB: Lev.6.19

OET (OET-RV)

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive

וְהָאֵ֨שׁ עַל־ הַמִּזְבֵּ֤חַ תּֽוּקַד־ בּוֹ֙

(Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_spoke YHWH to/towards Mosheh to,saying )

See how you translated the similar expression in [6:9](../06/09.md). Alternate translation: [You must make the fire burn on the alter continually]

Note 2 topic: writing-poetry

בַּבֹּ֣קֶר בַּבֹּ֑קֶר

(Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_spoke YHWH to/towards Mosheh to,saying )

The repetition of the phrase in the morning is an emphatic way to say “every morning.” If your language also uses repetition for emphasis in this way, consider doing so here. If not, consider stating the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [every morning] or [morning by morning]

חֶלְבֵ֥י הַשְּׁלָמִֽים

(Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_spoke YHWH to/towards Mosheh to,saying )

Alternate translation: [the fat portions that are required for the peace offerings, including the fat covering the innards, all the fat that is on the innards, the two kidneys and the fat that is on them that is by the loins, and the lobe on the liver]

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

6:8–7:38 The regulations in 1:2–6:7 include instructions for both priest and layperson. This section adds detail regarding the rights and obligations of the officiating priest. Because the tribe of Levi had been allotted no land for farming (Deut 18:1; Josh 13:14, 33), priests depended on the offering system for their income. The concern was that priests be adequately provided for. Like many human institutions, this system was eventually abused (1 Sam 2:12-25; Hos 4:8).
