uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

(Occurrence 0) with their deceitfulness

(Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when harassed they to/for=you(pl) in/on/at/with,trickery_of,their which/who deceived to/for=you(pl) on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in message/matter_of Pəˊōr and,in message/matter_of Cozbi daughter_of leader_of Midyān sister_of,their the,killed in/on/at/with,day_of the,plague on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in message/matter_of Pəˊōr )

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea behind the word deceitfulness, you can express the same idea with a verbal form. Alternate translation: “by deceiving you”

(Occurrence 0) They led you into evil

(Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when harassed they to/for=you(pl) in/on/at/with,trickery_of,their which/who deceived to/for=you(pl) on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in message/matter_of Pəˊōr and,in message/matter_of Cozbi daughter_of leader_of Midyān sister_of,their the,killed in/on/at/with,day_of the,plague on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in message/matter_of Pəˊōr )

Alternate translation: “They persuaded you to do this evil thing”

(Occurrence 0) in the case of Peor … in the matter of Peor

(Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when harassed they to/for=you(pl) in/on/at/with,trickery_of,their which/who deceived to/for=you(pl) on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in message/matter_of Pəˊōr and,in message/matter_of Cozbi daughter_of leader_of Midyān sister_of,their the,killed in/on/at/with,day_of the,plague on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in message/matter_of Pəˊōr )

Both of these phrases mean that these things happened at Mount Peor.

(Occurrence 0) Peor

(Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when harassed they to/for=you(pl) in/on/at/with,trickery_of,their which/who deceived to/for=you(pl) on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in message/matter_of Pəˊōr and,in message/matter_of Cozbi daughter_of leader_of Midyān sister_of,their the,killed in/on/at/with,day_of the,plague on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in message/matter_of Pəˊōr )

Peor was the name of a mountain. See how you translated this in [Numbers 23:28](../23/28.md).

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive

(Occurrence 0) who was killed

(Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when harassed they to/for=you(pl) in/on/at/with,trickery_of,their which/who deceived to/for=you(pl) on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in message/matter_of Pəˊōr and,in message/matter_of Cozbi daughter_of leader_of Midyān sister_of,their the,killed in/on/at/with,day_of the,plague on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in message/matter_of Pəˊōr )

If your language does not use the passive form in this way, you can state this in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: “whom Phinehas killed”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

25:1-18 Israel was camped across the Jordan from Jericho, almost on the eve of conquest, but they plunged to a new low in moral failure and spiritual bankruptcy. Balaam’s advice led to the immorality and apostasy of Baal-peor (31:16); he found a way to damage Israel, if not through a curse, then through lust and idolatry. The same temptation to idolatry and immorality existed for the early church (1 Cor 10:6, 11).

OET (OET-RV)

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.

Acknowledgements: The Hebrew text, lemmas, and morphology are all thanks to the OSHB and some of the glosses are from Macula Hebrew.
