TSNTyndale Study Notes:

6:1-19 With the financial crisis solved (ch 5), the narrative returns to how the enemies of rebuilding tried to intimidate or eliminate Nehemiah.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

אֱלֹהַ֛י

God,my

As in 4:4 and 6:9, Nehemiah records here what he prayed at the time of the events he is describing. You can indicate this by introducing these words as a prayer and presenting the prayer as a direct quotation. Alternate translation: “So I prayed, ‘My God … ’”

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom

זָכְרָ֧ה & לְטוֹבִיָּ֥ה וּלְסַנְבַלַּ֖ט כְּמַעֲשָׂ֣יו אֵ֑לֶּה

remember, & to,Tobiah and,to,Sanballat according_to,works,they these

His refers to both Sanballat and Tobiah. In this context, “remember” means to think about someone and consider what action you should take in their regard. Nehemiah is not suggesting that God has forgotten about Tobiah and Sanballat. Alternate translation: “treat Tobiah and Sanballat the way they deserve for what they have done”

and=also to,Noadiah the,prophetess and,to,rest the,prophets which/who they_were intimidate DOM,me

Alternate translation: “Do the same for the female prophet Noadiah and all the other prophets who are trying to make me afraid”

Note 2 topic: translate-names

לְנוֹעַדְיָ֤ה

to,Noadiah

This is the name of a woman.
