OET (OET-RV) When you promise something to God,
⇔ don’t put off doing what you promised
⇔ because no one likes fools.
⇔ Whatever you promise, do it!
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit
(Occurrence 0) do not delay to do it, for God has no pleasure in fools
(Some words not found in UHB: good which/who not vow than, that, vow and=not fulfill )
It is implied that it is foolish to delay in fulfilling a vow that you have made to God. Alternate translation: “do not foolishly delay in doing it, because God is not pleased with foolish people”
5:4-5 Keep all the promises you make to him: This is virtually a direct quote from the law (Deut 23:21-23; see also Prov 12:22; 20:25). Vows to God were voluntary, but once they were made, it was obligatory to keep them.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
