OET (OET-LV) in whom also we_were_allotted_inheritance, having_been_predetermined according_to the_purpose of_the one working all the things, according_to the counsel of_the will of_him,
OET (OET-RV) and we also have been assigned an inheritance in him. This was also predetermined according to God’s plan and the decisions of his will
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / exclusive
καὶ ἐκληρώθημεν, προορισθέντες
also ˱we˲_/were/_allotted_inheritance /having_been/_predetermined
Both pronouns we and We are inclusive in this verse. Paul is referring to all Christians, who were predestined to belong to Christ. In verses 12 and 13 he will divide this group into “we” (exclusive) Jewish Christians and “you” Gentile Christians.
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive
καὶ ἐκληρώθημεν
also ˱we˲_/were/_allotted_inheritance
If your language does not use this passive form, you can state this in active form. This could mean: (1) God also chose us to be his possession. (2) God also chose us to be heirs.
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive
προορισθέντες
/having_been/_predetermined
If your language does not use this passive form, you can state this in active form. Alternate translation: [God chose us ahead of time] or [God chose us long ago]
1:11 we have received an inheritance from God: Paul often talks about salvation as an inheritance, something promised to our spiritual ancestors and received by us (see Rom 8:17; Gal 3:29; 4:7; Col 1:12; 3:24).
• Because God is sovereign, he makes everything work out according to his plan (cp. Rom 8:28-30).
OET (OET-LV) in whom also we_were_allotted_inheritance, having_been_predetermined according_to the_purpose of_the one working all the things, according_to the counsel of_the will of_him,
OET (OET-RV) and we also have been assigned an inheritance in him. This was also predetermined according to God’s plan and the decisions of his will
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
