UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: translate-unknown

הַיּוֹצֵ֔ר & הַיּוֹצֵֽר

the,potter & the,potter

A potter is a kind of craftsman who forms objects out of clay. If your readers would not be familiar with what a potter is, you could use the name of a similar thing that your readers would recognize, or you could use a more general term. Alternate translation: [the craftsman who makes things out of clay … the craftsman who makes things out of clay]

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / irony

אֶ֣דֶר הַיְקָ֔ר אֲשֶׁ֥ר יָקַ֖רְתִּי

magnificent_of of,the_value which/who valued

Yahweh actually means to communicate the opposite of the literal meaning of what he is saying here, since thirty pieces of silver was in fact a contemptibly small price. It was also the amount the owner of an ox that gored a slave to death had to give to the owner of the slave (see Exo 21:32), so by paying that amount they were saying he was worth the same as a dead slave. If a speaker of your language would not do that, you could translate the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [the contemptibly small price at which I was valued]

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

אֶ֣דֶר הַיְקָ֔ר

magnificent_of of,the_value

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of price, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: [the magnificent silver]
