OET (OET-RV) He’ll erect his royal tents between the seas and the beautiful holy mountain, but that northern king will come to his end, and no one will help him.
In this long final vision, Daniel was told of events leading up to the end of the age.
This paragraph describes the final battles and end of the despicable king of the north.
He will pitch his royal tents between the sea and the beautiful holy mountain,
He will set up his royal tents between the sea and the glorious holy mountain.
He and his army will camp between the sea and the beautiful mountain where the Temple is built.
He will pitch his royal tents between the sea and the beautiful holy mountain: There is a question of interpretation here regarding where the king would camp. The Hebrew word that the BSB translates as sea is plural. However, many commentators think that it refers to the Mediterranean alone. The two possibilities are:
the king will camp between the sea (the Mediterranean) and the holy mountain. For example:
He shall pitch his palatial tents between the sea and the beautiful holy mountain. (NRSV) (BSB, RSV/NRSV, ESV, NJB, NCV, CEV, NLT, GNT, NABRE)
the king will camp between the seas (the Mediterranean and the Dead Sea). For example:
He will pitch his royal tents between the seas toward the beautiful holy mountain. (NET) (KJV, NASB, NIV, GW, NET)
It is recommended that you follow option (1), following the majority of English versions.
pitch his royal tents: The Hebrew phrase that the BSB translates as his royal tents refers to the big luxurious tents that the king used to stay in when he was with his army in war time. To pitch tents means to set them up. So other ways to translate this include:
pitch his royal pavilion (REB)
set up his huge royal tents (GNT)
but he will meet his end with no one to help him.
But he will die and no one will come to help him.
But he will meet his end. There will not be anyone who will help him.
but he will meet his end: The clause he will meet his end here means that the evil king will die.
with no one to help him: This clause indicates that the king would die alone, without comfort and assistance. Here are some other ways to translate this:
with no one to help him (NRSV)
with none to help him (ESV)
No one will give him any help.

OET (OET-RV) He’ll erect his royal tents between the seas and the beautiful holy mountain, but that northern king will come to his end, and no one will help him.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
