OET (OET-LV) Therefore consequently the things of_ the _peace we_may_be_pursuing, and the things of_ the _building which for one_another.
OET (OET-RV) So then, we should be pursuing actions that lead to peace and things that build each other up—
In this section, Paul told the believers in Rome to stop considering some of their fellow believers as bad people. Instead they should choose not to hinder them. He told them that God does not consider any kind of food or any other kind of thing as not acceptable, but people who think that that food or thing is unacceptable, they should not eat it or use it. But those who find those things acceptable, they should not hurt the faith of those who find those things unacceptable. Righteousness, peace, and joy are the important things in God’s kingdom, not what you eat or drink. God is pleased when those who follow Jesus live in that way.
Paul encouraged the believers to do things that bring peace and encouragement for each other. They are not to hurt other believers over what they eat. They are not to cause other believers to stumble in their faith because of what they eat. Foods that might cause problems for other believers are to be eaten privately. A believer should not eat food if he has doubts about whether he should eat it or not. Everything that is not done in faith is sin.
Here are other possible headings for this section:
Do Not Cause Another to Stumble (ESV)
Don’t Cause Problems for Others (CEV)
So then, let us pursue what leads to peace
¶ Therefore, we(incl) must work hard at the deeds that bring/cause peace with others
¶ And so, we must always do the things that lead to peace with others.
So then: The Greek here means “as a result” or “therefore.”BDAG and NIV, respectively.
let us pursue what leads to peace: The word pursue indicates that we are to work hard at making peace. Here are other ways to translate this clause:
we must pursue the things that cause peace with others
we must make every effort to do the things that bring peace
what leads to peace: The Greek is literally “the (things) of peace.” It refers to doing things that cause peace with others. See the above examples.
and to mutual edification.
and at the deeds that strengthen one another.
And we must always do the things that help one another do better in living by faith.
to mutual edification: The words “Let us pursue what leads” are implied here. In some languages it is more natural or more clear to repeat them. For example:
let us pursue what leads to mutual edification
mutual: This word refers to doing things for each other.
edification: Here this word refers to strengthening or encouraging others so that they live in faith better. Here are other ways to translate this word:
upbuilding (ESV)
help strengthen (GNT)
help each other have a strong faith (CEV)

ἄρα οὖν
consequently (Some words not found in SR-GNT: ἄρα Οὖν τά τῆς εἰρήνης διώκωμεν καί τά τῆς οἰκοδομῆς τῆς εἰς ἀλλήλους)
See how you translated this phrase in [5:18](../05/18.md).
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
διώκωμεν
˱we˲_˓may_be˒_pursuing
Here Paul refers to the things of peace and the things of the building up as if they were something that people could pursue. He is telling Christians to do these things. If it would be helpful in your language, you could express the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [let us commit to doing]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / possession
τὰ τῆς εἰρήνης & καὶ τὰ τῆς οἰκοδομῆς
(Some words not found in SR-GNT: ἄρα Οὖν τά τῆς εἰρήνης διώκωμεν καί τά τῆς οἰκοδομῆς τῆς εἰς ἀλλήλους)
Paul is using the possessive form to describe things that result in the peace and the building up of other Christians. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use a different expression. Alternate translation: [the things that result in peace and the things that result in building up]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
τὰ τῆς οἰκοδομῆς τῆς εἰς ἀλλήλους
(Some words not found in SR-GNT: ἄρα Οὖν τά τῆς εἰρήνης διώκωμεν καί τά τῆς οἰκοδομῆς τῆς εἰς ἀλλήλους)
Here, Paul speaks of helping other Christians become more spiritually mature as if one were building up a building. If it would be helpful in your language, you could express the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [the things that help one another grow spiritually mature]
OET (OET-LV) Therefore consequently the things of_ the _peace we_may_be_pursuing, and the things of_ the _building which for one_another.
OET (OET-RV) So then, we should be pursuing actions that lead to peace and things that build each other up—
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
