OET (OET-LV) Do_not say why was_it (cmp)_the_days (the)_former they_were good from_these if/because not from_wisdom you_have_asked on this.
OET (OET-RV) Don’t ask, “What was it about the old days that were better than these?”
⇔
because that question doesn’t display wisdom.

Solomon is using the question form to warn against idealizing the past. If a speaker of your language would not use the question form for that purpose, you could translate this as a statement or as an exclamation. Alternate translation: [The former days were better than these!]

The word translated as For indicates that what follows is a reason for what came before. Use a connector in your language that makes it clear that what follows is a reason for what came before. Alternate translation: [Do not say, “What was, that the former days were better than these?” The reason is that you do not ask about this out of wisdom]

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
