OET (OET-LV)being_earnest to_be_keeping the oneness of_the spirit in the bond of_ the _peace.

OET (OET-RV)being serious about keeping the unity of God’s spirit in the bond of peace.

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

τηρεῖν τὴν ἑνότητα τοῦ Πνεύματος ἐν τῷ συνδέσμῳ τῆς εἰρήνης

/to_be/_keeping the oneness ˱of˲_the Spirit in the bond ¬the ˱of˲_peace

Here Paul speaks of peace as if it were a bond that ties people together. This is a metaphor for being united with other people by living peacefully with them. Alternate translation: “to live peacefully with one another and remain united as the Spirit made possible”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

τηρεῖν τὴν ἑνότητα τοῦ Πνεύματος ἐν τῷ συνδέσμῳ τῆς εἰρήνης

/to_be/_keeping the oneness ˱of˲_the Spirit in the bond ¬the ˱of˲_peace

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea behind the words unity and peace, you could express the same ideas with verbal forms. Alternate translation: “to live peacefully with one another and remain united as the Spirit made possible”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

4:3 binding yourselves together with peace: Paul’s emphasis on God’s acceptance of Gentiles as well as Jews (2:11–3:6) is now applied ethically: Jews and Gentiles are to accept one another in the church (see Col 3:14-15).
