OET (OET-LV) It_will_be_captured (the)_Qəriyyōt and_the_strongholds it_will_be_seized and_it_was the_heart_of the_warriors_of Mōʼāⱱ in_the_day (the)_that like_the_heart_of a_woman who_is_in_labour.
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive
(Occurrence 0) Kerioth has been captured, and its strongholds have been seized
(Some words not found in UHB: captured (the),Kerioth and,the,strongholds seized and=it_was hearts_of warriors_of Mōʼāⱱ in_the=day (the)=that like_[the],heart_of woman/wife in_labour )
If your language does not use the passive form in this way, you can state this in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: “The enemy has captured Kerioth and seized its strongholds”
Note 2 topic: translate-names
(Occurrence 0) Kerioth
(Some words not found in UHB: captured (the),Kerioth and,the,strongholds seized and=it_was hearts_of warriors_of Mōʼāⱱ in_the=day (the)=that like_[the],heart_of woman/wife in_labour )
This is a city in Moab. See how you translated this name in [Jeremiah 48:24](../48/24.md).
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / simile
(Occurrence 0) in that day the hearts of Moab’s soldiers … women in birth labor
(Some words not found in UHB: captured (the),Kerioth and,the,strongholds seized and=it_was hearts_of warriors_of Mōʼāⱱ in_the=day (the)=that like_[the],heart_of woman/wife in_labour )
This phrase compares the fear that will overwhelm the soldiers of Moab to the fear a woman may feel when she is about to give birth to her child.
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
(Occurrence 0) the hearts of Moab’s soldiers will be like the hearts of women in birth labor
(Some words not found in UHB: captured (the),Kerioth and,the,strongholds seized and=it_was hearts_of warriors_of Mōʼāⱱ in_the=day (the)=that like_[the],heart_of woman/wife in_labour )
Here “hearts” represent a person’s emotions. Alternate translation: “Moab’s soldiers will be afraid like a woman about to give birth”
48:1-47 Moab, one of two nations descended from Abraham’s nephew Lot (Gen 19:36-38), was the next nation brought to trial in the Lord’s courtroom (cp. Isa 15–16). Moab’s territory lay between the Arnon River and the Zered Brook east of the Dead Sea. At the time, the Moabites felt self-assured because they were relatively free from the military reach of the Babylonians. However, the Lord found the Moabites to be greedy and cruel, and their worship was vicious and sensuous.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
