OET (OET-LV) And_because/when he_will_be_pure the_discharge from_discharge_of_his and_count to_him/it seven_of days for_cleansing_of_his and_wash clothes_of_his and_bathe body_of_his in/on/at/with_water living and_clean.
וְכִֽי־יִטְהַ֤ר הַזָּב֙ מִזּוֹב֔וֹ
and=because/when cleansed the,discharge from,discharge_of,his
Alternate translation: [And when the man who was flowing recovers from his flow and is no longer infected]
וְסָ֨פַר ל֜וֹ שִׁבְעַ֥ת יָמִ֛ים
and,count to=him/it seven_of days
Alternate translation: [then he shall determine a seven-day period]
Note 1 topic: grammar-connect-logic-goal
לְטָהֳרָת֖וֹ
for,cleansing_of,his
Here, for marks cleansing as the goal or purpose of counting out seven days. Use a connector in your language that makes it clear that this is the purpose.
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / euphemism
בְּשָׂר֛וֹ
body_of,his
See how you handled this euphemism in [15:2](../15/02.md).
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
בְּמַ֥יִם חַיִּ֖ים
in/on/at/with,water life(pl)
See how you translated this idiom in [14:5](../14/05.md).
15:1-33 The principle of normal and abnormal and the created order again aids the interpretation of these regulations (see “Clean, Unclean, and Holy” Theme Note). Bodily discharges, such as infections (see study note on 13:1-46), were not “normal” because they weakened the vitality of the person, so the person was not seen as whole. Whether male (15:1-18) or female (15:19-33), such a person became unclean.
OET (OET-LV) And_because/when he_will_be_pure the_discharge from_discharge_of_his and_count to_him/it seven_of days for_cleansing_of_his and_wash clothes_of_his and_bathe body_of_his in/on/at/with_water living and_clean.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
Acknowledgements: The Hebrew text, lemmas, and morphology are all thanks to the OSHB and some of the glosses are from Macula Hebrew.
