Note 1 topic: grammar-connect-infostructure
וְהִתְוַדּ֤וּ
and,confess
Here, And they confess introduces a strong contrast. Use a grammatical structure that clearly indicates this contrast in your language. Alternate translation: [But if they confess] or [However, if they confess]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns
אֶת־עֲוֺנָם֙ וְאֶת־עֲוֺ֣ן אֲבֹתָ֔ם בְּמַעֲלָ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר מָֽעֲלוּ־בִ֑י & בְּקֶֽרִי
DOM iniquity_of,their and=DOM iniquity_of fathers_of,their in/on/at/with,treachery_of,their which/who committed in/on/at/with,me & in/on/at/with,hostility
Here, iniquity & iniquity & unfaithfulness & hostility are abstract nouns representing various forms of wrongdoing and opposition. Use appropriate terms in your language that convey these concepts clearly. Alternate translation: [the ways they sinned and the ways their ancestors sinned and did not faithfully obey me … hostilely]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
אֲבֹתָ֔ם
fathers_of,their
Here, fathers is a metonymy for ancestors, as seen in v 39. Refer to the earlier note for consistency. Alternate translation: [ancestors] or [forefathers]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
הָֽלְכ֥וּ עִמִּ֖י בְּקֶֽרִי
continued toward,me in/on/at/with,hostility
See how you translated this in [26:21](../26/21.md). Alternate translation: [they lived in hostility]
26:40-45 The chapter ends with a message of hope: Even after Israel violated the covenant and experienced judgment, reconciliation and restoration remained possible if the people confessed and repented (see study note on 4:20). God’s grace had not been taken away. God did not want to destroy his people; he would restore them if they would only humble themselves and repent (see also 2 Chr 7:14).

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
