OET (OET-LV) And_he_has_brought_near you and_DOM all_of brothers_of_your the_descendants_of Lēvī with_you and_will_you(pl)_seek also priesthood.
OET (OET-RV) Yahweh has presented you and your brothers, the other Levites to approach him. Are you all wanting the priesthood now also?
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit
וַיַּקְרֵב֙ אֹֽתְךָ֔
and,he_has_brought_near ,you
The implication is that God enabled the Levites to serve at his sanctuary. You could include this information if that would be helpful to your readers. See how you translated the similar phrases in [verse 5](../16/05.md). Alternate translation: [And he has enabled you and all your brothers, the sons of Levi, with you to come near to himself]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / yousingular
אֹֽתְךָ֔ וְאֶת־כָּל־אַחֶ֥יךָ & אִתָּ֑ךְ וּבִקַּשְׁתֶּ֖ם
,you and=DOM all/each/any/every brothers_of,your & with,you and,will_you(pl)_seek?
The word you is singular in most of this verse because Moses is speaking to Korah, but in you seek it is plural because Moses is speaking about Korah and his fellow Levites. Use the correct singular and plural forms in your translation if your language marks that distinction.
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
וְאֶת־כָּל־אַחֶ֥יךָ
and=DOM all/each/any/every brothers_of,your
Here, Moses is using the term brothers to describe people who are descended from the same ancestor. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [and all your relatives]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
בְנֵי־לֵוִ֖י
sons_of Lēvī
Here, Moses is speaking as if the people of the tribe of Levi were literally the sons of Levi. They were actually his descendants. Your language may have a comparable expression that you can use in your translation, or you could state the meaning plainly. See how you translated this phrase in [verse 7](../16/07.md). Alternate translation: [the men descended from Levi]
Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / rquestion
וּבִקַּשְׁתֶּ֖ם גַּם־כְּהֻנָּֽה
and,will_you(pl)_seek? also/yet priesthood
Moses is using the question form to express disapproval of Korah’s desire for the priesthood. If a speaker of your language would not use the question form for that purpose, you could translate this as a statement or as an exclamation. Alternate translation: [but you are seeking the priesthood also!] or [and despite that you are seeking the priesthood also.]
Note 6 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns
כְּהֻנָּֽה
priesthood
If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of priesthood, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: [to serve as priests]
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
Acknowledgements: The Hebrew text, lemmas, and morphology are all thanks to the OSHB and some of the glosses are from Macula Hebrew.
