OET (OET-LV) If like_the_death_of every_of the_humankind they_will_die these_men and_the_visitation_of every_of the_humankind it_will_be_visited on_them not YHWH he_has_sent_me.
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / parallelism
כְּמ֤וֹת כָּל־הָֽאָדָם֙ יְמֻת֣וּן אֵ֔לֶּה וּפְקֻדַּת֙ כָּל־הָ֣אָדָ֔ם יִפָּקֵ֖ד עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם
like,the_death_of all/each/any/every the=humankind they,will_die these and,the_visitation_of all/each/any/every the=humankind suffer on,them
These two phrases as the death of every man these die and the oversight of every man is counted upon them mean basically the same thing. The second emphasizes the meaning of the first by repeating the same idea with different words. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could combine them and express the emphasis in another way. Alternate translation: [as the death of every man these die in an ordinary way]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns
כְּמ֤וֹת כָּל־הָֽאָדָם֙
like,the_death_of all/each/any/every the=humankind
If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of death, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: [as every man dies]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / gendernotations
כָּל־הָֽאָדָם֙ & כָּל־הָ֣אָדָ֔ם
all/each/any/every the=humankind & all/each/any/every the=humankind
Here the masculine term man has a generic sense that includes both men and women. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could use language in your translation that is clearly inclusive of both men and women. Alternate translation: [every human … every human]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / euphemism
וּפְקֻדַּת֙ כָּל־הָ֣אָדָ֔ם יִפָּקֵ֖ד עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם
and,the_visitation_of all/each/any/every the=humankind suffer on,them
Moses is referring to death in a polite way by using the phrase the oversight of every man is counted upon them. Depending on what is helpful in your language, you could use a polite way of referring to this in your language, or you could state this plainly. Alternate translation: [and the fate of every man happens to them] or [and they experience death like everyone else does]
Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns
וּפְקֻדַּת֙ כָּל־הָ֣אָדָ֔ם
and,the_visitation_of all/each/any/every the=humankind
If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of oversight, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: [and how every man is overseen]
Note 6 topic: figures-of-speech / ellipsis
לֹ֥א יְהוָ֖ה שְׁלָחָֽנִי
not YHWH he,has_sent_me
Moses is leaving out some of the words that in many languages a sentence would need in order to be complete. You can supply these words from the context if that would be clearer in your language. Alternate translation: [then you will know that Yahweh did not send me]
OET (OET-LV) If like_the_death_of every_of the_humankind they_will_die these_men and_the_visitation_of every_of the_humankind it_will_be_visited on_them not YHWH he_has_sent_me.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
Acknowledgements: The Hebrew text, lemmas, and morphology are all thanks to the OSHB and some of the glosses are from Macula Hebrew.
