Here the list speaks of the temple as the house of God as if it were God’s dwelling place. Outside refers to all of the duties that Levites had that did not involve working inside the temple itself. (For example, collecting offerings, as described in 10:37–38.) Alternate translation: “supervised all the work that the Levites did outside the temple”
