OET (OET-RV) “All I know, is that as far as I’m concerned you’re as reliable as a messenger from God.” Akish responded. “Nevertheless, the Philistine commanders have said, ‘He can’t join our side in the battle.’

וַיַּ֣עַן אָכִישׁ֮ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֶל־דָּוִד֒
and,answered ʼAkīsh and=he/it_said to/towards Dāvid
This expression conveys a single idea by using two words connected with and. The word answered tells for what purpose Achish said this to David. Alternate translation: [And Achish replied to David]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
ט֥וֹב אַתָּ֛ה בְּעֵינַ֖י
good you(ms) in/on/at/with,sight_of,my
See how you translated the similar expressions in [29:6](../29/06.md) and [29:7](../29/07.md). Alternate translation: [you are acceptable to me]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / simile
כְּמַלְאַ֣ךְ אֱלֹהִ֑ים
as_~_as,angel_of ʼElohīm
The point of this comparison is that just as an angel of God is completely innocent and trustworthy, so David has been completely innocent and trustworthy. If it would be helpful in your language, you could make this point explicitly. Alternate translation: [like an innocent, trustworthy angel of God]

אָֽמְר֔וּ לֹֽא־יַעֲלֶ֥ה עִמָּ֖נוּ בַּמִּלְחָמָֽה
said not it_will_ascend with,us in/on/at/with,battle
If it would be clearer in your language, you could translate this so that there is not a quotation within a quotation. Alternate translation: [have said that you must not go up with us into the battle]
Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / explicitinfo
לֹֽא־יַעֲלֶ֥ה עִמָּ֖נוּ בַּמִּלְחָמָֽה
not it_will_ascend with,us in/on/at/with,battle
By saying go up, the Philistine lords are marking travel for change in elevation. In this instance, they are referring to marching up from the coastal plain into Israel. In [29:4](../29/04.md), they were envisioning going down into the valley to fight. Express this in a way that would be natural in your language. Alternate translation: [He shall not go with us into the battle]
29:1-11 David was spared by divine providence from actually fighting against his own people.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
