OET (OET-LV)Therefore I_ immediately _sent to you, and you did well therefore.
having_arrived now we all are_being_present before the god, to_hear all the things having_been_commanded to_you by the master.

OET (OET-RV)I did that straight away and you kindly came here, so now we’re all here in God’s sight to find out everything that the master has commanded you to say.”

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / yousingular

σέ & σύ & σοι

you & you & (Some words not found in SR-GNT: ἐξαυτῆς Οὖν ἔπεμψα πρός σέ σύ τέ καλῶς ἐποίησας παραγενόμενος νῦν οὖν πάντες ἡμεῖς ἐνώπιον τοῦ Θεοῦ πάρεσμεν ἀκοῦσαι παντᾶ τά προστεταγμένα σοί ὑπό τοῦ Κυρίου)

The word you is singular in each of these instances. Even though Peter came with other believers, Cornelius is addressing Peter directly. So use the singular form of “you” in your translation if your language makes that distinction.

Note 2 topic: writing-politeness

σύ τε καλῶς ἐποίησας παραγενόμενος

you (Some words not found in SR-GNT: ἐξαυτῆς Οὖν ἔπεμψα πρός σέ σύ τέ καλῶς ἐποίησας παραγενόμενος νῦν οὖν πάντες ἡμεῖς ἐνώπιον τοῦ Θεοῦ πάρεσμεν ἀκοῦσαι παντᾶ τά προστεταγμένα σοί ὑπό τοῦ Κυρίου)

This expression is a polite way of thanking Peter for coming. Alternate translation: [and we are grateful to you for coming]

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / exclusive

ἡμεῖς

we

Cornelius is using the word we to refer to himself and to his guests, but not to Peter and the believers who came with him, so use the exclusive form of that word if your language marks that distinction.

Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom

ἐνώπιον τοῦ Θεοῦ

before ¬the God

Cornelius is using the word before. Alternate translation: [in the presence of God]

Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive

τὰ προστεταγμένα σοι ὑπὸ τοῦ Κυρίου

(Some words not found in SR-GNT: ἐξαυτῆς Οὖν ἔπεμψα πρός σέ σύ τέ καλῶς ἐποίησας παραγενόμενος νῦν οὖν πάντες ἡμεῖς ἐνώπιον τοῦ Θεοῦ πάρεσμεν ἀκοῦσαι παντᾶ τά προστεταγμένα σοί ὑπό τοῦ Κυρίου)

If your language does not use this passive form, you could express the idea in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: [the things that the Lord has told you to say]

Note 6 topic: translate-textvariants

τὰ προστεταγμένα σοι ὑπὸ τοῦ Κυρίου

(Some words not found in SR-GNT: ἐξαυτῆς Οὖν ἔπεμψα πρός σέ σύ τέ καλῶς ἐποίησας παραγενόμενος νῦν οὖν πάντες ἡμεῖς ἐνώπιον τοῦ Θεοῦ πάρεσμεν ἀκοῦσαι παντᾶ τά προστεταγμένα σοί ὑπό τοῦ Κυρίου)

Some ancient manuscripts read “instructed by the Lord.” ULT follows that reading. Other ancient manuscripts read “instructed by God to say.” If a translation of the Bible already exists in your area, you could consider using the reading in that translation. If there is not already a Bible translation in your area, you may wish to follow the reading of ULT.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.

Acknowledgements: The SR Greek text, lemmas, morphology, and VLT gloss are all thanks to the CNTR.
