OET (OET-LV)And we are witnesses of_all things that he_did both in the region of_the Youdaiōns and in in_Hierousalaʸm/(Yərūshālayim), whom also they_killed, having_hanged him on a_stake.

OET (OET-RV)We are witnesses of all the things he did in the Jewish provinces and in Yerushalem, and then how they executed him by nailing him to a stake.

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / exclusive

ἡμεῖς μάρτυρες

we_‹are› witnesses

Here, we refers to Peter and the apostles and believers who were with Jesus when he was on earth, not to Cornelius and his guests. So use the exclusive form of “we” if your language marks that distinction.

Note 2 topic: writing-pronouns

ὃν καὶ ἀνεῖλαν

(Some words not found in SR-GNT: Καί ἡμεῖς μάρτυρες πάντων ὧν ἐποίησεν ἐν τέ τῇ χώρᾳ τῶν Ἰουδαίων καί ἐν Ἰερουσαλήμ ὅν καί ἀνεῖλαν κρεμάσαντες ἐπί ξύλου)

The pronoun whom refers to Jesus, and the pronoun they refers to the enemies of Jesus, the Jewish leaders who conspired against him and the Romans who ordered and carried out his execution. It may be helpful to begin a new sentence here. Alternate translation: [Also, the enemies of Jesus killed him]

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy

κρεμάσαντες ἐπὶ ξύλου

˓having˒_hanged_‹him› (Some words not found in SR-GNT: Καί ἡμεῖς μάρτυρες πάντων ὧν ἐποίησεν ἐν τέ τῇ χώρᾳ τῶν Ἰουδαίων καί ἐν Ἰερουσαλήμ ὅν καί ἀνεῖλαν κρεμάσαντες ἐπί ξύλου)

This expression refers to crucifixion. Peter says tree to mean a wooden cross. Alternate translation: [crucifying him]

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

10:36-43 Peter repeatedly underscores the importance of the apostolic witnesses to the message of Good News. The apostles ate and drank with Jesus (see Luke 24:41-43) and were eyewitnesses of his resurrection, so they could attest that he had conquered death (see Acts 3:15; 4:33; 13:30-31). The original apostles were chosen in advance to be his witnesses (see 1:12-26); gradually, others such as Paul and Barnabas carried on this powerful preaching and teaching in the name of Jesus Christ (9:15; 14:1-3; 26:16).

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.

Acknowledgements: The SR Greek text, lemmas, morphology, and VLT gloss are all thanks to the CNTR.
