OET (OET-LV)not to_all the people, but to_the_witnesses which having_been_previously_appointed by the god, to_us, who ate_with and drank_with with_him after the time him to_rise_up from the_dead.

OET (OET-RV)not by all the people, but to the witnesses that God had previously appointed—to us who ate with him and drank with him after he’d been raised from the dead.

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive

οὐ παντὶ τῷ λαῷ, ἀλλὰ μάρτυσι τοῖς προκεχειροτονημένοις ὑπὸ τοῦ Θεοῦ, ἡμῖν, οἵτινες συνεφάγομεν καὶ συνεπίομεν αὐτῷ μετὰ τὸ ἀναστῆναι αὐτὸν ἐκ νεκρῶν

not ˱to˲_all the people but ˱to˲_/the/_witnesses ¬which /having_been/_previously_appointed by ¬the God ˱to˲_us who ate_with and drank_with ˱with˲_him after the_‹time› /to/_rise_up him from /the/_dead

If you used an active form instead of “caused him to be seen” in the previous verse, you could adjust the language here to fit. It may be helpful to make this two new sentences. Alternate translation: “All the people did not see him, but witnesses chosen beforehand by God saw him. We who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead saw him”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

παντὶ τῷ λαῷ

˱to˲_all the people

By the people, Peter means the Jewish people. Alternate translation: “by all the Jewish people”

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive

τοῖς προκεχειροτονημένοις ὑπὸ τοῦ Θεοῦ

¬which /having_been/_previously_appointed by ¬the God

If your language does not use this passive form, you could express the idea in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: “whom God chose beforehand”

Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / synecdoche

οἵτινες συνεφάγομεν καὶ συνεπίομεν αὐτῷ

who ate_with and drank_with ˱with˲_him

Peter is using one activity that he and the other apostles did with Jesus after he rose from the dead, eating and drinking (that is, sharing meals), to mean spending time with him personally. Alternate translation: “who spend time with him personally”

Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / nominaladj

ἐκ νεκρῶν

from /the/_dead

Peter is using the adjective dead as a noun. Your language may use adjectives in the same way. If not, you could translate this word with an equivalent phrase. Alternate translation: “those who have died”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

10:36-43 Peter repeatedly underscores the importance of the apostolic witnesses to the message of Good News. The apostles ate and drank with Jesus (see Luke 24:41-43) and were eyewitnesses of his resurrection, so they could attest that he had conquered death (see Acts 3:15; 4:33; 13:30-31). The original apostles were chosen in advance to be his witnesses (see 1:12-26); gradually, others such as Paul and Barnabas carried on this powerful preaching and teaching in the name of Jesus Christ (9:15; 14:1-3; 26:16).

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.

Acknowledgements: The SR Greek text, lemmas, morphology, and VLT gloss are all thanks to the SR-GNT.
