Jeremiah often uses these words to introduce an important message from Yahweh. See how you translated this in [Jeremiah 6:6](../06/06.md).

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

(Occurrence 0) my wrath and my fury were poured out on the inhabitants of Jerusalem

(Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when thus he/it_had_said YHWH armies/messengers god_of Yisrael just=as poured_out anger_of,my and,rage_of,my on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in inhabitants_of Yerushalayim yes/correct/thus/so poured_out rage_of,my on,you(pl) when,go,you(pl) Miʦrayim/(Egypt) and=you(pl)_will_be (into)_an,curse and_(into),a,horror and_(into),a,curse and_(into),a,reproach and=not see again/more DOM the,place (the),this )

Yahweh punishing people because he is very angry is spoken of as if wrath and fury were liquids that he poured out on the people. Alternate translation: “I became very angry and punished the people of Jerusalem”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / doublet

(Occurrence 0) my wrath and my fury

The words “wrath” and “fury” mean basically the same thing. Together they emphasize the intensity of his wrath. Alternate translation: “my terrible wrath”

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

(Occurrence 0) in the same way my fury will be poured out on you

Yahweh punishing people because he is very angry is spoken of as if fury were a liquid that he pours out on the people. Alternate translation: “I will became very angry and punish you”

Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / parallelism

(Occurrence 0) You will become an object of cursing and a horror, an object for speaking curses, and something dishonorable

All of these statements mean basically the same thing and emphasize how badly the nations will treat the people of Judah after Yahweh punishes them. Alternate translation: “People will be terrified when they see what has happened to you. They will curse and mock you”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

42:13-22 Jeremiah had already prophesied Egypt’s destiny; it would be destroyed by the Babylonians (46:2-26). This remnant of Judah would walk into the path of the Lord’s judgment if they continued on to Egypt.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
