OET (OET-LV) Why have_I_seen they will_be_filled_with_terror they_will_be_turned_back backwards and_their_of_warriors they_will_be_crushed and_flight they_will_flee and_not they_will_turn_back terror will_be_from_round_about the_utterance_of YHWH.
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / rquestion
(Occurrence 0) What am I seeing here?
(Some words not found in UHB: why see they(emph) terrified turning back and,their_of,warriors beaten_down and, flight fled and=not look_back terror [will,be]_from_round_about declares_of YHWH )
The word “I” here refer to Yahweh. Yahweh uses a question to introduce the vision and to draw attention to what he says next. If it would be helpful in your language, you could express this question as a statement. Alternate translation: “Look at what is happening here”
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns
(Occurrence 0) They are filled with terror
(Some words not found in UHB: why see they(emph) terrified turning back and,their_of,warriors beaten_down and, flight fled and=not look_back terror [will,be]_from_round_about declares_of YHWH )
If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea behind the word terror, you can express the same idea with a verbal form such as “terrified.” Alternate translation: “The Egyptian soldiers are terrified”
46:2-12 Jeremiah used the results of a battle known to Jehoiakim to warn him and the people of Jerusalem that Egypt could not protect them from Babylon. Pharaoh Neco had thought that the time was ripe to become the dominant power in the ancient Near East, so he moved north in 609 BC. After Neco spent several years trying to help fragments of the Assyrian army stop the westward movements of the Babylonian army, he was soundly defeated at Carchemish on the Euphrates River in 605 BC. Soon after that, the Babylonian army surrounded Jerusalem and forced Jehoiakim to become a vassal of Babylon.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
