OET (OET-LV) May_he_be YHWH god_of_our with_us just_as he_was with ancestors_of_our not may_he_abandon_us and_not may_he_abandon_us.
OET (OET-RV) May our god Yahweh be with us, just as he was with our ancestors. May he not leave us or abandon us,
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
יְהִ֨י יְהוָ֤ה אֱלֹהֵ֨ינוּ֙ עִמָּ֔נוּ כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר הָיָ֖ה עִם־אֲבֹתֵ֑ינוּ
let_it_be YHWH God_of,our (Some words not found in UHB: let_it_be YHWH God_of,our with,us just=as it_became with ancestors_of,our not may,he_forsake_us and,not may,he_abandon_us )
Solomon is using a common expression of his culture to express his desire that Yahweh would help the Israelites. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. If you have already translated the book of 1 Samuel, see how you translated the similar expression in [1 Samuel 3:19](../1sa/03/19.md). Alternate translation, as in the UST: [May Yahweh our God help us, just as he helped our ancestors]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / doublenegatives
אַל־יַעַזְבֵ֖נוּ וְאַֽל־יִטְּשֵֽׁנוּ
not may,he_forsake_us and,not (Some words not found in UHB: let_it_be YHWH God_of,our with,us just=as it_became with ancestors_of,our not may,he_forsake_us and,not may,he_abandon_us )
The expressions May he not forsake and may he not abandon are double negatives, consisting of the negative particle not and the negative words forsake and abandon. If it would be clearer in your language, you could use positive expressions to translate them. Alternate translation: [May he always cherish us and may he always protect us]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / parallelism
אַל־יַעַזְבֵ֖נוּ וְאַֽל־יִטְּשֵֽׁנוּ
not may,he_forsake_us and,not (Some words not found in UHB: let_it_be YHWH God_of,our with,us just=as it_became with ancestors_of,our not may,he_forsake_us and,not may,he_abandon_us )
These two phrases May he not forsake us and may he not abandon us mean basically the same thing. The second emphasizes the meaning of the first by repeating the same idea with different words. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could combine them and express the emphasis in another way. Alternate translation: [May he never forsake us at all]
OET (OET-LV) May_he_be YHWH god_of_our with_us just_as he_was with ancestors_of_our not may_he_abandon_us and_not may_he_abandon_us.
OET (OET-RV) May our god Yahweh be with us, just as he was with our ancestors. May he not leave us or abandon us,
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
Acknowledgements: The Hebrew text, lemmas, and morphology are all thanks to the OSHB and some of the glosses are from Macula Hebrew.
