וְ⁠אִ֨ם עַֽל־הַ⁠מִּשְׁכָּ֜ב ה֗וּא א֧וֹ עַֽל־הַ⁠כְּלִ֛י אֲשֶׁר־הִ֥וא יֹשֶֽׁבֶת־עָלָ֖י⁠ו

and=if on/upon the,bed he/it or on/upon the,anything which/who who/which sitting on/upon/above=him/it

Here, it refers to anything that might be placed on a bed or a piece of furniture on which the menstruating woman has sat or on which she has lain. It may be helpful to clarify this for your readers. Alternate translation: [But if an item should happen to be placed on the bed or on furniture on which she is sitting]

15:1-33 The principle of normal and abnormal and the created order again aids the interpretation of these regulations (see “Clean, Unclean, and Holy” Theme Note). Bodily discharges, such as infections (see study note on 13:1-46), were not “normal” because they weakened the vitality of the person, so the person was not seen as whole. Whether male (15:1-18) or female (15:19-33), such a person became unclean.
